I think most of us are familiar with Bibleworks or (if you’ve gone over to the Dark Side) Accordance or some such tool. One of the problems is these resources give us an even greater advantage over our national brothers (as these cost a small fortune and are English-based). You may have already seen this, but e-sword has had some recent changes that are really helpful; there are now a good number of Spanish resources, and it’s all free. If you go to http://www.ebenezer.hn/Tools.htm you can click to download the program (which is surprisingly small and efficient, though not as powerful as Bibleworks). Then you can download the Spanish patch so that the menus and whatnot are in Spanish. And then you can download a bunch of Spanish tools: a bunch of Bibles (not the NVI, however), Spanish - Greek interlinear with parsings & Strongs numbers (you can punch in the Strongs # and get the definitions in Spanish), and Vine’s Dictionary of Biblical Words (in Spanish) among other things. In maybe about half an hour of download/setup time, you can have a national on his way to doing a decent word study.
Another site that I recently discovered but haven’t had time to investigate closely is http://www.recursosteologicos.org/index.html. At first glance it seems to have some useful tools.
Hope this is helpful.

Welcome to the MTW Next Generation Latin America blog. The goal of this blog is to share resources, problems, and perspectives as we think about our monthly phone call.
On the right, you will see two of the resources that Bill mentioned - Acts 29 and Sovereign Grace Ministries and C.J. Mahaney. Feel free to check those out.
Bill suggested that we look around at some of the books/articles/blogs that we are reading and comment on what is impacting our thinking most right now. That might be a good place to start and something easy to post here.
He also suggested that we think about themes that we might like to talk about; here are a few that I thought of as we talked:
- How do we decide which nationals to work with? How do we avoid pressures in the wrong directions and ask the right questions so that we are wiser in selecting the men we invest with and in?
- What is the role of MTW missionaries given past dictates to move towards only mentoring and enabling nationals? What does this mean in particular for guys that have not had church planting experience and yet are asked to be trainers of church planting national pastors?
- What is our goal and role with national denominations? How do we navigate complex waters? When do we say we cannot go any further?
- What are other denominations doing? How do we stay on top of our own national and regional spiritual contexts?
So that’s a start…please contribute!
